Overview Shop Small is Downtown Delray Beach's holiday campaign for its own shops, built around Small Business Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, in a downtown where 95% of the businesses are independently owned. The Shop Small Holiday Rewards Pass carries it on through December: shoppers earn points at each participating downtown business they visit and redeem them for Downtown Delray gift cards. The Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority runs it. Downtown property owners voted the DDA into being in 1971 as a special taxing district, and a one-mill tax on downtown property pays for its work. On site There is no stage and no gate. The event is the district itself, spread across the six neighborhoods the DDA covers: The Ave on Atlantic Avenue, SOFA south of Atlantic, West Atlantic, Pineapple Grove, US1 and Beachside. Shoppers go from store to store, and the rewards pass counts each stop at a participating business. The DDA lists Shop Small among its signature events, alongside Downtown Delray Restaurant Month.
