Overview Sonic Temple is a four-day rock and metal festival in and around Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, on a bill that carried Metallica and Linkin Park in 2025 and My Chemical Romance and Tool in 2026. The festival bills more than 140 bands over five stages. Danny Wimmer Presents started it in 2019 to replace Rock on the Range, which it had co-promoted at the same stadium from 2007 to 2018. The stadium opened in 1999 as the first built for Major League Soccer. On site A general admission pass is sold two ways, stadium seating or the field. Upgrades climb from a VIP pass with an air-conditioned lounge streaming the main stage, to Rock Royalty with artist meet and greets, to the Columbus Owners Club and its private elevated viewing deck. The art half of the name is literal: daily Live Art Battles put two artists head to head to paint a mural in 90 minutes, more than 300 feet of murals go up live across the grounds, and an Art Mart sells gig posters, prints, stickers and patches. The Caduceus Wine Garden pours from the wineries of Tool singer Maynard James Keenan, and The Dive Bar keeps it plain. It runs rain or shine. Audience People travel and stay for the whole run. Danny Wimmer Presents says its festivals draw fans from all 50 states and more than 35 countries, and Sonic Temple sells on-site camping and hotel-plus-admission packages. Re-entry is closed to everyone except campers, hotel-package holders and the top two pass levels, so most of the crowd spends each day inside the grounds. It is all ages, and every attendee, of any age, needs a full-price ticket. Talent and Influencers Foo Fighters, Tool, System of a Down, Disturbed and Korn opened the first edition in 2019. Tool, Kiss and Foo Fighters headlined in 2023; Misfits, Slipknot, Pantera and Disturbed in 2024; Metallica, Linkin Park and Korn in 2025. The 2026 bill was led by My Chemical Romance, Tool, Bring Me The Horizon and Shinedown, which put Tool on the top line for a third time. Track record The 2019 debut ran three days and drew an estimated sold-out 120,000. The 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled, and nothing ran in 2022. Sonic Temple came back in 2023 as a four-day Memorial Day weekend festival, added a fourth stage in 2024 and a fifth in 2026, with more than 30 extra bands. The promoter says every one of its 2025 festivals broke its attendance record. Rock on the Range, before it, sold out every year from 2013 to 2018 and drew 140,000 in its last. Brand presence Danny Wimmer Presents sells Sonic Temple alongside five other festivals, among them Welcome to Rockville, Louder Than Life and Aftershock. Its rights run from title and naming rights through on-site activation, sampling, giveaways and VIP integration to content and ticketing. A 2026 festival partner proposal from the company paired a 10-by-10 activation and a set sampling window with a 15-second spot on the sponsor reel that plays on the main stage between sets, integration in the festival app and a ticket bank worth 10% of the fee; tent, signage, wifi and power go through the promoter's account team.
