Overview The South Bay Beer and Wine Festival is a Sunday afternoon of unlimited tastings at Ernie Howlett Park in Rolling Hills Estates, where about 100 breweries, wineries and restaurants pour and plate for a crowd kept to 900 tickets. Three Rotary clubs, Palos Verdes Peninsula, San Pedro and South Bay Sunrise, run it with their own members as the labor, and the festival says 100% of the money raised goes to programs in the South Bay and Harbor Area. The 2024 edition was its 11th. On site The 2024 festival ran from 1 to 5 p.m. A general admission ticket covered unlimited craft beer and wine tastings and food from the restaurant booths, with live music from the band Detour and a silent auction. VIP tickets, 300 of the 900, added a spirits pour from producers such as Tito's, Empress Gin, Sazerac and NOSOTROS. Poured beer comes from the region's breweries and a few national ones, among them Firestone Walker, Sierra Nevada, Smog City, Three Weavers and Beachwood; wineries have included Wente, Riboli Family, Europa Village and Falkner; and local restaurants such as The Original Red Onion, Shore Grille and The Proud Bird serve the food. Audience The festival draws from the Palos Verdes Peninsula, San Pedro and the South Bay from Manhattan Beach through Torrance, and from Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, Long Beach and Belmont Shore, with some guests coming from as far as Temecula and Palm Springs. Brand presence The presenting sponsor's name goes into the festival's title, and its logo onto the souvenir glasses, the swag bags, the signage, the website and the festival's ad in Peninsula Magazine, with first refusal on the following edition. Two auto sponsors park vehicle displays in the high-traffic parts of the park, and Gold sponsors get their own tent and tables. Proceeds fund the humanitarian programs of the three Rotary clubs.
