About this listing
Overview The Sports Power Awards honors women who lead in sports, from league and team front offices to broadcast booths. It is staged during Super Bowl week in the host city. In Los Angeles the program spans three days: a VIP welcome party on opening night, the awards, and the Sports Power House, a smaller thought-leadership forum for senior executives. Sports communications executive LaTonya Story created the event as the Sports Power Brunch, and her firm LPS Consulting PR still produces it. On site The awards take place at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Guests arrive along a Purple Carpet lined with credentialed national media. Tables seat ten. A host leads the program, each honoree receives a named award introduced by a video package, and panel conversations run between presentations. Brand activations sit around the room. A networking mixer with a female DJ follows the last award. Recent editions added a portrait studio with visual artist Dominique Oliveto and a locker-room photo booth. Audience The room holds sports and entertainment executives, including C-suite leaders from the NFL, NBA, MLB and NWSL, alongside athletes, broadcast journalists, media personalities and influencers. Talent and Influencers Past honorees include Vanessa Bryant, Becky Hammon, A'ja Wilson and Kim Ng, along with Maria Taylor, Pam Oliver, Swin Cash, Ali Krieger and Lisa Salters. Elle Duncan and Taylor Rooks have hosted recent programs, and ESPN analyst Monica McNutt has hosted the Purple Carpet. Los Angeles honorees are unannounced. Track record The event has followed the game from Atlanta to Miami, Los Angeles, Scottsdale, Las Vegas, New Orleans and San Francisco, picking up coverage from CNN, ESPN, AP, Sports Illustrated and ESSENCE along the way, and The Hollywood Reporter listed it among the events to attend during Super Bowl week. It has donated more than $100,000 to nonprofits, and with Prime Video it built basketball courts in Las Vegas and New Orleans named for Story's late son. Brand presence Companies present the named awards, with their logo on the trophy and in the honoree video. At the most recent edition ESPN Films presented the Impact Award to Becky Hammon, and the NFL presented the Trailblazer Award to Kim Ng. Porsche hosted the VIP welcome party and drove VIP talent in co-branded cars. Delta presented the Purple Carpet. Executives from Delta, Prime Video and the NFL spoke on the panels.
