About this listing
Overview The Sugar Land Space Cowboys are the Houston Astros' Triple-A club, named for the Astros tie, Sugar Land's nearness to NASA's Johnson Space Center and Texas cowboy imagery, and in 2024 they won the Pacific Coast League and the Triple-A National Championship. They play at Constellation Field, a $37 million ballpark the City of Sugar Land opened in 2012. The club started that year as the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League; the Astros bought a majority stake in November 2020, made it their Triple-A affiliate for 2021 and renamed it after that season. On site Over the outfield rises a Texas-shaped videoboard of 1,542 square feet, close to 100 feet above the field, and a hand-operated scoreboard sits in the left-field wall. Fans spread out on the Grassland lawn beyond right field, drink at the Bud Light Ice House behind the right-center wall and the Karbach Cantina beer garden beyond left, and eat at the H-E-B Picnic Plaza, which seats up to 500 beside a pool pavilion. Kids have the Red Diamond Splash Pad and the Kiddie Corral playground, and Moonshot Alley runs a simulated hitting bay with a lounge. Up top are the climate-controlled First Community Club, skyboxes and party suites. Orion, a cosmic space dog, is the mascot, and some nights end in fireworks or a concert. Audience The ballpark is Sugar Land's event space as much as its baseball park. Graduations, proms, worship services, cheer competitions, cricket, high school and college baseball, cultural festivals and Sugar Land Holiday Lights all come through the gates, so the park reaches residents who never buy a game ticket. Talent and Influencers As the Skeeters the club signed major-league names including Roger Clemens, Rafael Palmeiro, Scott Kazmir and Derek Norris, and former NBA star Tracy McGrady pitched for it. In 2026 pitcher Bryce Mayer and Jason Schiavone earned Astros minor league honors. Track record The club won Atlantic League titles in 2016 and 2018, then the PCL and Triple-A national titles in 2024. Its largest crowd, 8,606, came on July 4, 2016. Constellation Field has hosted the Southland Conference baseball tournament in 2013 and every year from 2015 to 2019, the Houston-Rice Silver Glove Series and concerts from REO Speedwagon and ZZ Top. Brand presence The park sells signage on the infield and outfield walls, the concourse, the videoboard, the manual scoreboard and the home run wall, plus dugout tops, on-deck circles and foul poles, and naming rights to clubs and areas, as the named Ice House, Cantina, Picnic Plaza and Splash Pad show. Game nights carry giveaways, theme nights, in-game promotions, mascot and player appearances and postgame fireworks, and the club adds branded social content and targeted email to the package. Hospitality runs from a group of 20 to one of 2,000.
