About this listing
Overview Summer Camp Music Festival is a Memorial Day weekend camping festival at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois, where moe. and Umphrey's McGee anchored the bill for more than two decades and jam, electronic, rock, bluegrass, funk and hip hop sets run across several stages at once. Fans call themselves SCampers and pick their own route through the weekend. Jay Goldberg Events and Entertainment started it in June 2001 with about 1,000 fans, 15 bands and two stages, and Duff Entertainment represents its sponsorships. On site Around the main stages run workshops, late-night shows, artist sit-ins, live art, local vendors, nonprofit outreach and SOULPATCH, the festival's environmental and social impact program. The 2019 edition packed more than 150 artists into 247 sets and over 260 hours of music, and the 2021 edition added Illumination Woods, an art area of psychedelic installations, and ran the tenth annual Field Day competition. Audience The crowd is Midwestern. Per the festival's deck, just over half comes from Illinois, with most of the rest from Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, and it camps on site for the weekend rather than coming in for a day. Talent and Influencers Past bills include Smashing Pumpkins, Willie Nelson, Billy Strings, Primus, Ween, Widespread Panic, Trey Anastasio Band, Goose, Ben Harper, Steve Miller Band, Tom Petty's Mudcrutch, Jane's Addiction, The Flaming Lips, The Avett Brothers, Zac Brown Band, George Clinton, The Roots, Three 6 Mafia, Common, Cypress Hill, Run the Jewels, Diplo, Deadmau5, John Summit, STS9, Pretty Lights, Griz, REZZ, Excision, Skrillex and Zeds Dead. Track record The 2021 edition, held in August after the 2020 festival was lost to the pandemic, drew more than 25,000 people, the largest crowd in its history. In 2023 Goldberg put the festival on hiatus, citing competition, supply chains, labor and costs; it ran in 2024 as Solshine: A Music and Arts Reverie. A 2025 plan for a non-camping event on the Peoria Riverfront was called off two months out and became a summer concert series there. The 25th-anniversary return to Three Sisters Park, booked for May 2026 with STS9, Two Friends, EOTO and Big Gigantic, was canceled less than two weeks before opening, with organizers citing financial trouble involving a third-party service provider. Brand presence Packages are built to order at three levels. The top level can include category exclusivity, naming rights on site, custom activation space, product placement, VIP and artist hospitality, custom ads on the on-site LED screens, dedicated app pushes and a social plan with ticket giveaways; the middle level adds sampling rights to a 10-by-20 space. Red Bull, IZZE, PepsiCo, Kellogg's, Johnnie Walker and Cutwater appear among past sponsors.
