Overview On May 1, the day Hawaii keeps as Lei Day, Downtown Summerlin sends Las Vegas hula halau and Polynesian dance companies down Park Centre Drive in an evening parade that opens Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. BESTAgency stages it with the district, and admission is free. The district sits at the center of Summerlin, the Howard Hughes master-planned community on the west edge of Las Vegas. On site Pre-parade festivities start at 5:30 p.m. and the parade steps off at 6. The program moves between ancient hula kahiko, danced to a chanter who tells the story, modern hula auana, Maori haka and Tahitian dance. In 2023 the district paired the parade with Flavors of Aloha on The Lawn two days earlier, a free day of island food, hula and Tahitian dance workshops, lei making and a car show. Talent and Influencers The dancers are local companies. The 2023 parade featured Nani Ola Hawaiian Dance Company, Na Hula O Kaleiokapualani and Tevakanui Polynesian Dance Company. The 2026 lineup was six groups: Hot Lava Company, Ka Pa Hula O Ke Ola Nani, Pupu Ori Te Nati Hula, Halau Kawahine and Co., the Korabo Taiko Drum Group and The Filipino Club. Track record The first parade ran in 2022 and the fifth in 2026, each on May 1 whatever the weekday, with a single presenting partner: Fletcher Jones in 2025 and Minero General Contractor in 2026. Halee Harczynski, Downtown Summerlin's senior director of marketing, said in 2026 that working with local organizations to celebrate Asian Pacific culture is deeply meaningful. Brand presence The presenting partner gets a VIP night at the parade with seating and a gift bag, and a name call in the voiceover before and after the parade. Its name also runs in the parade's paid advertising, including radio, the Review-Journal and a mobile billboard, on a static billboard along the 215, across Summerlin's website, social, email and app, on the district's digital pylons and media board, and on signage along the route.
