About this listing
Overview Sunset Fest is the free concert that welcomes UC Davis students back each fall quarter, held at UC Davis Health Stadium with a touring headliner on top, recently Blxst and Knock2. Only enrolled UC Davis students get in. They pre-register on Aggie Life, pick up a ticket and show a physical Aggie Card at the gate. It is run by the ASUCD Entertainment Council, the student-run arm of the Associated Students that has booked concerts in Davis since 1979. On site At a recent edition the gates opened at 6 p.m. and the show ran to 10. Gate 1 is the only entrance, bags must be clear and small, chairs stay out and there is no re-entry. Student acts open before the headliner; recently that meant R and B singer Thai T. and DJ Ami. The council hands out free water and cups, food trucks take Aggie Cash and offer vegan and vegetarian options, and free shirts and stickers go out while they last. At a recent edition Unitrans ran a special line every 20 minutes between the Memorial Union, the stadium and West Village, and extended six other lines to 10 p.m. Talent and Influencers Blxst, the Los Angeles rapper and singer behind the debut EP No Love Lost, headlined a recent edition with Filipino-American singer-songwriter Lyn Lapid in support. Knock2 and Hojean played the year before. Brand presence Ryder on Olive, a student apartment community in Davis, presented a recent concert. Safeway, University Credit Union, Woodstock's Pizza and a Davis coffee shop were thanked as sponsors on the festival's page.
