Overview Tacos 'N Taps is an all-you-care-to-taste beer and tequila festival where one glass buys refills from more than 60 craft beers, mezcals, margaritas and tequilas, and 15-plus taco trucks, taquerias and Mexican restaurants cook over 30 kinds of taco around it. The tour has stopped at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary, North Carolina, at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium for its Baltimore edition, and at Ballantyne's Backyard in Charlotte. It is produced by Drink Eat Relax Events of Baltimore, which says it has run more than 500 tasting events over 25 years, among them beer, bourbon and BBQ festivals and an Oktoberfest. On site Each stop runs noon to 5. VIP ticket holders get the first hour of tastings alone plus taco tickets, and general admission opens at 1 with a souvenir glass; tacos are bought separately from the vendors. Mariachi bands and DJs play through the afternoon, a Chef's Corner runs a tasting every hour, and there is a hot pepper eating contest, lawn games and a row of boutiques. In Timonium the Golden Taco Private Cabana puts up to ten guests in their own 10-by-10 tent with tables, chairs, a kiddie pool, a bottle of tequila and a case of beer. Guests get a hand stamp to come and go. Sampling is 21 and over, and an entry-only ticket lets non-drinkers in for the music and the food. Brand presence A portion of every stop's proceeds goes to the Spirit of Hope Children's Foundation, whose logo runs on the festival pages. Local businesses have taken the sponsor wall at single stops - the Baltimore page carried the Timonium Holiday Inn and Floor and Decor. Drink Eat Relax sells sponsorship and exhibitor space across the tour, and describes itself as a producer that also runs sampling programs and brand activations.
