About this listing
Overview Taste of Buffalo closes Delaware Avenue in downtown Buffalo, from Niagara Square by City Hall north to Chippewa Street, for a July weekend of plates from Western New York restaurants, food trucks and wineries, and a panel of more than 55 judges from local media, politics and business scores the menu for 13 awards. Entry is free. Food and drink are bought with tickets sold in sheets at three ticket tents, and most items run 4 to 12 tickets. The festival calls itself the largest two-day food festival in the United States. It is a New York not-for-profit with an all-volunteer board and about 1,000 volunteers. On site In 2026, 42 restaurants and food trucks and four New York State wineries lined the avenue, 13 of them first-timers. Six stages ran through both days: a main stage, an acoustic stage, a busker stage, a DJ stage, a new Cultural Stage and a VIP tent. The same year added a Taste Marketplace of about 17 local artisans, a larger Kids Village and interactive zone, and bleacher seating along Delaware Avenue. A dietary guide flags gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian items, and the digital festival guide comes with an audio tour. Hours in 2026 were 11 to 8 on Saturday and 11 to 7 on Sunday. Talent and Influencers The 2026 music ran from rock and rhythm and blues to Americana, soul and jazz, with Songbirds: A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac, The Plagiarists, The Damone Jackson Outcome, The Burkharts, P.A. Line and Part Time Genius at the top of the bill and the local Battle of the Bands winner on a stage. The judges named Street Cravings rookie of the year, gave La Cocina De TiTi best overall item for its cilantro rice, grilled tropical chicken and plantains, and gave Three Brothers Wineries best red for its Cabernet Franc; the Children's Choice went to Fat Bob's Smokehouse for its mac and cheese. Track record The festival began in 1984 with 22 restaurants on Main Street and later moved to Delaware Avenue for good. It has given more than $606,000 to over 20 local charities and to annual scholarships for Western New York students heading into culinary or hospitality degrees; 2026 proceeds went to Buffalo-Niagara Honor Flight and the Firefighter Arno Memorial Foundation. USA Today has named it one of the 10 best food and wine festivals to feel good about attending. Brand presence Tops Friendly Markets presented the festival for a 23rd year in 2026. Tops stores sell presale food-ticket vouchers from the second Sunday in June, and its name is on the festival's poster art contest. Coca-Cola ties in through the Family Freebie: a presale voucher comes with coupons for four free Coca-Cola drinks. The digital festival guide carries a sponsor spotlight section.
