About this listing
Overview Taste Washington is a run of wine and food events in Seattle each March built around one state's wine: more than 200 Washington wineries pour at The Grand Tasting, alongside bites from 75-plus West Coast restaurants, and the festival calls itself the nation's largest single-region wine and food festival. Around the two-day Grand Tasting run a Thursday seafood night, Pacific Standard; a dress-up Friday party, The New Vintage; a Saturday morning of seminars; a dinner series; and a Sunday brunch. SE Productions, a Seattle event production company, presents it with Washington State Wine. On site The Grand Tasting fills the Lumen Field Event Center, indoors and heated, over a Saturday and a Sunday afternoon, and it is a walk-around tasting with all food and wine included. The CenterStage runs DJ sets and live cooking demos, Bubbles and Bingo hands out prizes, a Craft Village sells art, truffles and jewelry, a gallery shows mural work by Gabrielle Wildheart, and Stitch and B*tch sets out embroidery and cross-stitch with a glass of wine. VIP guests come in an hour early to a lounge pouring Quilceda Creek and other Washington wines, with restaurants such as Ascend Prime Steak and Sushi and Surell cooking inside it. Pacific Standard pairs oysters and crab cakes with Washington whites, roses and sparkling wine, and the seminars bring in winemakers, growers, Masters of Wine and Master Sommeliers for blind tastings and panels. Audience The festival pitches The Grand Tasting at wine enthusiasts, foodies and culinary adventurers, from seasoned collectors to people just starting out, and guests spend the afternoon on their feet, moving table to table and mingling with the winemakers and industry people behind them. Brand presence Partner slots are sold by moment rather than by banner. At The Grand Tasting a brand can present the VIP lounge, the CenterStage, Bubbles and Bingo, the stitching corner, a live art installation, Airstream karaoke, a photo booth or a photo mosaic, or build its own footprint on the floor; Albert Lee Appliance and Electrolux presented the CenterStage and Portlandia supplied the bingo prizes. Other events carry their own official spirit, sparkling wine and presenting slots, including live sandcastle sculpting at Pacific Standard and the Sunday brunch. Title and presenting partnerships are built to order.
