Overview The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze fills the grounds of Van Cortlandt Manor, an 18th-century estate in Croton-on-Hudson, with more than 7,000 illuminated jack o'lanterns, all designed and hand-carved on site. Synchronized lighting and an original soundtrack run along the trail. Historic Hudson Valley, a nonprofit education organization, produces it, and proceeds support its programs. Time Out New York calls it the tristate area's most spirited Halloween happening. On site Guests walk a lantern-lit trail past large pumpkin sculptures, from a pumpkin Statue of Liberty and a working carousel to the Museum of Pumpkin Art, movie monsters and a Pumpkin Planetarium. The Gourd & Goblet Tavern, an 18th-century brick tavern, serves cocktails with table service, and the Headless Horseman's Hideaway pours Legend-themed drinks. Sponsors get themed activations and tables in the entry and exit courtyard, a banner by the entrance, a logo pumpkin in the sponsor installation, branded photo booths and pumpkin vignettes built by the Blaze creative team, plus logo recognition online, in emails and on tickets. Audience Blaze draws up to 120,000 visitors a season, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights sell out every year, as do most weeknights. The crowd mixes families with young children, couples on date nights and groups of friends, locals from Westchester and the Hudson Valley and day-trippers who ride Metro-North up from New York City. Tickets are timed, and children 2 and under get in free. Talent and Influencers The stars are the carvers: Historic Hudson Valley's artisan team designs and hand-carves every pumpkin on site, and the Headless Horseman rides in from Sleepy Hollow lore to visit the Hideaway. Blaze has appeared on The Today Show, CBS Sunday Morning, PBS and The Drew Barrymore Show, and People named it one of the country's seven most elaborate jack o'lantern displays. Track record Blaze is New York's original jack o'lantern show and has welcomed more than 2 million visitors since it began. It has been covered in The New York Times, Smithsonian and National Geographic, with Weather Channel live remotes and coverage from WABC-TV, News 12 Westchester and the New York Post. Fodor's Travel calls it the best family-friendly Halloween attraction in the country. Brand presence Con Edison is the presenting sponsor, Amazon Autos is the supporting sponsor, and JPMorgan Chase, Northwell Phelps Hospital, 107.1 The Peak, WHUD, Hudson North Cider Co., Captain Lawrence Brewing, Tarrytown House Estate and Windrose on Hudson also back the event.
