Overview The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is breed judging by day at the Javits Center and group and Best in Show judging at night at Madison Square Garden, and it has run every year since 1877, which by the club's count makes it America's second-longest continuously held sporting event, after the Kentucky Derby. A show draws more than 3,000 champion dogs from about 200 breeds, alongside the Masters Agility Championship, Junior Showmanship and flyball. It has been televised live nationally since 1948, the longest run of any dog show. In May 2026 Netflix signed on to stream the evening group and Best in Show judging live from the Garden, starting with the 151st show. The Westminster Kennel Club, founded in 1877, calls itself America's oldest non-profit organization dedicated to the sport showing of dogs. On site By day the Javits Center runs the breed rings, and sponsors build 20-by-20 booths along a sponsor row in Hall 1A that looks onto Hall 1B, near the marketplace and fan area. The 2026 plans added a branded viewing lounge where fans sit and watch the judging and a stage for meet-and-greets with past winners, Ask the Vet sessions and Dog Show 101. The Masters Agility finals run on the Saturday. At night the show moves to the Garden, where the groups are judged, dogs wait their turn in the Ready Ring, the video boards run between groups, and the 150th show in 2026 staged a Parade of Legends of past winners and fan favorites. Audience Two audiences share the week. One is the exhibitors - breeders, owners, professional handlers and the junior handlers who compete in their own division - and the club says they come from all 50 states and more than 17 countries. The other is the ticket holders who walk the Javits halls by day and fill the Garden at night. Westminster e-mails both groups through the season and surveys its exhibitors after each show. Talent and Influencers Penny, a Doberman Pinscher, won Best in Show at the 150th show in 2026, and Monty took it in 2025. The reigning winner is part of the sponsor offer: the 2026 packages included a chance to host Monty for a fan meet-and-greet at a sponsor's Javits booth. Brand presence Sponsors are named official sponsors of the show in a single product category and license the Westminster marks for their own marketing, promotions and sweepstakes. On site they take a Javits booth, two minutes a night on the Garden's video boards and, at the top end, naming rights on a space: the Ready Ring at the Garden, the viewing lounge or the stage. Catalog and program ads, e-blasts, website placement and a minimum run of social posts come with the package, and the club will add questions about the sponsor's category to its post-show exhibitor survey and hand back the results.
