Overview Variety's Comic-Con Studio is a two-day interview set at San Diego Comic-Con for the casts and creators of the shows and films at the convention, and in 2025 it doubled as a Nintendo Lounge, with talent racing each other on Mario Kart World on the Nintendo Switch 2 between interviews. Google TV presented the studio in 2024, which Variety billed as a return, and again in 2025, and the conversations are published across Variety.com. Comic-Con began in 1970 as San Diego's Golden State Comic-Minicon and moved into the San Diego Convention Center in 1991; its Hall H seats just over 6,100. On site The studio runs on the Friday and Saturday of the convention, and casts come in together: in 2025 Noah Hawley sat with Timothy Olyphant, Sydney Chandler and Alex Lawther for Alien: Earth, Holly Hunter came with the Star Trek: Starfleet Academy cast, and the Rick and Morty voice cast talked through the season. The Phineas and Ferb creators told the studio that Summer Belongs to You came out of a spontaneous singalong in their writers' room. Donkey Kong Bananza was on the consoles alongside Mario Kart World that year. Talent and Influencers The 2024 list included Ncuti Gatwa for Doctor Who, Rebecca Ferguson and Common for Silo, Sarah Michelle Gellar for Dexter: Original Sin, Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and the Abbott Elementary cast led by Quinta Brunson. In 2025 the list added Michael C. Hall, Sterling K. Brown and Nathan Fillion, with Tiffany Haddish, Dave Franco and Alison Brie, and Quinta Brunson came back. Women of Wrestling, with Jeanie Buss, was on the list both years. Brand presence Google TV is the presenting sponsor, and its head of TV platforms, Shalini Govil-Pai, spoke for the partnership both years. In 2025 Nintendo took the lounge inside the studio, which put its newest console and games in the hands of the talent on set.
