About this listing
Overview The Wicomico Civic Center (Wicomico Youth and Civic Center) is the county-owned arena and event center at 500 Glen Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland, and one of the most visited buildings on the Delmarva Peninsula. It books concerts, family shows, trade shows, sporting events, graduations, meetings and dinner shows all year. The county sells in-venue advertising packages, from lobby bulkhead signs to naming rights on the box office and the arena's seating levels. On site The Normandy Arena covers about 30,000 square feet with roughly 5,200 seats, holds up to 6,500 for concerts and fits two full-size basketball courts or 180 trade show booths. The 10,000-square-foot Midway Room, ten meeting rooms and in-house Encore Catering round out the building. A county renovation of more than $10 million added a new box office, an expanded lobby, a café and a larger food court. Sponsor inventory includes framed arena signs, four in-arena video boards, lobby digital screens, an outdoor electronic marquee and ticket backs. Audience Up to 281,000 visitors a year come from a 60-mile radius, and about 650,000 people live within an hour's drive. Crowds change with the calendar: concert fans, families at kids' shows, trade show buyers, high school and youth athletes, and graduates with their families. Talent and Influencers Recent and upcoming headliners include Flo Rida, TobyMac and Scotty McCreery, following a long list that runs from Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band and Willie Nelson to Katt Williams and Jeff Foxworthy. The building hosts the Governors Challenge, the country's largest holiday high school basketball tournament, the MAWA wrestling Eastern Nationals and the Maryland state high school wrestling championships. Track record The first Civic Center burned in 1977 and the community rebuilt it, reopening it as a war memorial with rooms named for Normandy, Midway, Flanders and Da Nang. It stages close to 800 event sessions a year. The county has kept investing, from new lighting, sound, seats and scoreboard to the latest lobby and box office rebuild. Brand presence Current advertisers include Pepsi, Sysco, PNC Bank, Pohanka Toyota, Culligan, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and One Hour Heating and Air. Seven packages run from bulkhead banners in the lobby up to box office naming rights with 20,000-plus ticket backs, and the county also builds custom packages starting at a low monthly rate, with discounts on two-year contracts.
