Overview The Wicomico County Fair is the Lower Eastern Shore's county fair, held over three days each August at WinterPlace Park in Salisbury, Maryland. The Wicomico Farm and Home Show, a nonprofit founded by local farm families, produces it with Wicomico County Recreation, Parks and Tourism. Admission and parking are free, and the fair's stated purpose is to show off Shore agriculture in a family setting. On site Livestock rings run goat, swine, sheep, beef and dairy cattle shows through the weekend, and the Carriage House holds home arts, produce and baking entries plus a cake auction. The Maryland High School Rodeo rides Friday and Saturday nights, mounted shooters perform Sunday, and a main stage carries country and rock acts alongside pie, watermelon and hot wing eating contests. Friday night closes with fireworks over the park pond. Carnival rides, a petting farm, a classic car show, duck races and local food trailers fill the rest of the grounds. Audience More than 15,000 people over three days, mostly families from Wicomico County and the rest of the Delmarva Peninsula. Farm families, 4-H and FFA youth exhibitors and the region's agricultural businesses come for the shows, and townspeople come for the rides, music and food. Talent and Influencers Country singer Jimmy Charles headlined the main stage at the most recent fair, with regional bands through the weekend. The Maryland High School Rodeo, the Mason Dixon Deputies mounted shooters and a Fair Queen pageant add their own followings. DelmarvaLife on WBOC broadcast live from the grounds, and WMDT 47abc and Delmarva Now covered the fair. Track record The Farm and Home Show has been a Wicomico County tradition for nine decades. It took on the Delmarva Chicken Festival's giant fry pan when that festival ended, became the Wicomico County Fair with the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce, and has been presented with the county since. Recent fairs drew the most livestock entries in five years. Brand presence The sponsor wall runs more than 40 deep, led by Perdue Farms and the Central Atlantic Toyota dealers, with Piedmont Airlines, Carter Machinery, IBEW Local 24, Mountaire, Tractor Supply and a long list of farm, bank and home-improvement names. Perdue sponsors the Friday fireworks. Top sponsors get the fair's billboards, radio and TV spots, stage announcements, prime banner locations and a sampling spot at the entrance.
