About this listing
Overview Wire & Wood Songwriters Festival takes over downtown Alpharetta, Georgia, for two days each October, with more than 30 performances across six outdoor stages and free admission. It celebrates the craft of songwriting, pairing nationally known artists with emerging and local writers who tell the stories behind their songs. The City of Alpharetta produces it with the Alpharetta Convention & Visitors Bureau as part of its push to become a music city. On site Stages run from the Main Stage on Milton and the saddle-topped Town Green Stage to City Hall, Market Street, the Formal Garden and North Main Park. The only ticketed show is the Listening Room, a songwriters-in-the-round set inside Roaring Social. The Music Makers Market sells music-themed art and goods, and the Live Art Lounge hosts hands-on activities. Sponsors can name a stage, the Listening Room or the Hydration Station, with stage branding, emails, social posts, a 10x10 activation space and VIP parking. Audience The festival draws more than 25,000 fans over two days. Its core audience is adults aged 30 to 60 from affluent households in Alpharetta, north Fulton County and metro Atlanta, and the mix of rock, country, blues, Americana, folk and bluegrass brings families and longtime music fans alike. It is one of the only free multi-stage music festivals in the Atlanta area. Talent and Influencers Corey Smith and Sister Hazel headline this year, and David Lowery, David Ryan Harris and Angie Aparo play the Listening Room. Past performers include John Oates, Dan Wilson of Semisonic, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, G. Love & Special Sauce, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Marc Broussard, Matthew Sweet, Shawn Mullins and Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls. Track record Wire & Wood has grown from a local showcase into one of north metro Atlanta's most anticipated fall events. Listening Room proceeds fund Alpharetta's Music Match program, which pays for live local music around the city year-round, and the festival anchors the city's wider music programming. Brand presence United BMW presents the Main Stage on Milton and the Town Green Stage, Kroger Delivery presents the City Hall Stage, and THRIVE Coworking is a sponsor. Roaring Social, Tito's Handmade Vodka and Chloe Wine Group have supported past editions. Open packages include the Market Street, Formal Garden and Truck N Tap stages, the Listening Room, the Hydration Station and on-site activations.
